Broad choice and strong campus life. Canada has seen rising demand from Saudi students. Applications run on early and regular rounds, with essays and test policies that vary by university.

Three systems, three timelines

The US, Canada and Australia all teach in English, but they handle applications, admissions and visas differently. A plan built for one country does not automatically work for the other two, so we plan each separately.

United States

US universities run early rounds, Early Decision or Early Action, that usually close on 1 or 15 November, and regular rounds that mostly close in January. Applications include essays, school reports and recommendations, and some universities ask for SAT or ACT scores. A bachelor's degree usually takes four years. Admitted students receive an I-20 form from the university and apply for an F-1 student visa, which includes an interview at the US embassy or consulate.

Check that the university is accredited by a recognised US accrediting agency. For Emirati students, the field ranking rule applies as well.

Canada

Canada caps the number of study permits it issues each year, and the cap for 2026 is 408,000. Most students also need a provincial attestation letter (PAL) from the province where they will study, but since January 2026 master's and doctoral students are exempt.

Australia

Australian universities mainly admit students in February and July. The student visa application charge rose to AUD 2,500 on 1 July 2026, and students must hold Overseas Student Health Cover for the length of their visa.

A written budget for each university

Tuition and living costs in all three countries are usually higher than at European public universities, and they vary a lot by city. In the Pathway Plan we write down the full yearly cost for each university on your shortlist, in AED, before you apply.

Frequently asked questions

When do US applications close for Fall 2027?

Early rounds usually close on 1 or 15 November 2026 and regular rounds mostly in January 2027. Each university sets its own dates, so check every school on the list.

Yes. A student admitted through Early Decision commits to attend that university. Early Action is not binding.

Do master's students need a PAL for Canada?

No. Since January 2026, master's and doctoral students are exempt from the provincial attestation letter. Most other students still need one.

How much is the Australian student visa?

The application charge is AUD 2,500 since 1 July 2026, plus health cover for the length of the visa.
